Background: Trinidad - British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, on the second day of a 10-day tour of the West Indies Federation March 25, met Sir Winston Churchill for a short informal talk at the Port of Spain residence of the West Indies Governor-General, Lord Hailes.

Sir Winston was enjoying a cruise in the area aboard the luxury yacht "Christina", owned by Greek shipping magnate Mr. Aristotle Onassis.

Early next morning, Mr. Macmillan interrupted his tour for a surprise flying visit to President Kennedy at Key West, Florida. There the two leaders had a brief conference on the critical situation in Laos.
