SYNOPSIS: On arrival at Orly Airport, the Royal couple were greeted by the French President, Monsieur Valery Giscard d'Estaing and his wife.
This is the first visit by the king to a European country since he acceded to the throne last November. The Spanish monarch was welcomed as representing the Spain of modern times. The welcome was extended by the French President with the entire French Government present at the airport amid strict security. President Giscard said that France wished to increase co-operation with Spain where the wind of renewal and liberty was moving among the people.
Replying, King Juan Carlos said that his visit would help give a new meaning to the traditional bonds linking the two stats. The King has a large schedule during his stay with a wide variety of topics for discussion with the French Government.
