    The President of Mauritania, Moktar Ould Daddah opened an exhibition and competition of arts and crafts by the members of the National Women's Movement of the Mauritanian people's Party in the capital, Nouakchott on 18 April (Thursday). the competition arose out of the exhibition on 8 March to mark Women's Day.

    It included clothes made by women's co-operative and also produce from agricultural collectives.

    The President of the Council of Women's section of the Mauritanian People's Party told the meeting that at this time in the nation's history it was important for every woman to participate effectively in the common effort.

    She said the women were doing this in many national projects which specifically involved women -- clothes-making factories, in agriculture and poultry farming, in women's collectives and in centres of education.
