  • Description

These are further scenes from France where severe snow storms have brought widespread dislocation in the Massif Centrale, the mountainous area of central France.

On this occasion our cameraman went with a snow-plough from the village of LE BEAGE to the relief of a village called SAINTE EULALIE, isolated since December 25th, Christmas Day.

Accompanying the mechanical plough were the engineer responsible for roads and bridges, and the chief road-mender.

Roadways were completely obliterated by a deep blanket of snow and progress through it was slow - about 500 metres an hour.

On the way the engineers were met with extensive damage to fencing, telephone poles and wires and electricity installations.

Some of the local inhabitants took to skis as a means of locomotion.
