  • Description

In Malaya, veterinary doctors struggled hard to heal the wounds of a tiger caught in an illegal wild boar trap in Kuala Lumpur's Templer Park. The 200-lb tigress was caught by the front right paw and was put into a come by firing capsules of phenyl barbitol from a "mercy gun", nearly nine hours after it was trapped.

During that time the tiger struggled hard to escape. It ripped out the tree to which the steel trap had been anchored, but the tree became entangled among other trees.

For 36 hours it lay in come as veterinary doctors did all they could to heal the wounds the beast suffered while trying to break loose from the trap. It was feared the tigress may lose her right eye which was injured either by a "mercy" dart or by a twig while struggling.

Meanwhile the game department was looking for a mate for her before sending her to the zoo. If a mate is not found, the tigress will be freed in the jungle.
