    GHANA'S PRESIDENT KWAME NKRUMAH LEFT CAIRO TODAY (TUESDAY) FOR KARACHI ON HIS WAY TO HANOI, WHERE HE WILL DISCUSS THE WAR SITUATION WITH NORTH VIETNAMESE LEADERS. PRESIDENT NKRUMAH ARRIVED IN CAIRO YESTERDAY AND WAS MET AT THE AIRPORT BY PRESIDENT GAMAL ABDEL NASSER.

    THE GHANAIAN PRESIDENT, WEARING A DARK TUNIC-SUIT JACKET, STEPPED FROM THE PLANE TO THE CHEERS OF SPECTATORS ON THE AIRPORT BUILDING. MANY OF THEM CARRIED BANNERS DECLARING "LONG LIVE GHANA - U.A.R. FRIENDSHIP."
    THERE WAS A GUARD OF HONOUR DRAWN UP FOR PRESIDENT NKRUMAH'S INSPECTION, AND HE STOOD ON A DAIS AS THE NATIONAL ANTHEMS OF GHAMA AND THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC WERE PLAYED, FOLLOWED BY A 21-GUN SALUTE.

    THE GHANAIAN PRESIDENT HAD TALKS WITH PRESIDENT NASSER LAST NIGHT AND TODAY TOLD A PRESS CONFERENCE THAT EVERY AFRICAN GOVERNMENT MUST BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE MOST EFFECTIVE MEANS OF TOPPLING THE MR. IAN SMITH'S BREAKAWAY RHODESIAN REGIME.

    PRESIDENT NKRUMAH IS TO VISIT HANOI AT THE INVITATION OF PRESIDENT HO CHI MINH, BUT THE PRECISE PURPOSE OF THE VISIT HAS NOT BEEN ANNOUNCED. ON HIS WAY, THE GHANAIAN PRESIDENT WILL STOP IN PEKING WHERE HE IS EXPECTED TO SPEND TWO OR THREE DAYS. IT IS HIS FIRST VISIT TO CHINA SINCE 1961.
