    A GIFT OF 767 TONS OF BEANS AND A LARGE QUANTITY OF SKIM MILK WAS PRESENTED IN DAKAR OF MONDAY TO THE SENEGALESE MINISTER OF RURAL ECONOMY, M. MAGATTE LO, TO FIGHT SENEGAL'S DROUGHT. THE GIFT WAS PRESENTED THROUGH THE FOOD AND AGRICULTURE ORGANISATION OF THE UNITED NATIONS.

    THE GIFT WAS OFFICIALLY HANDED OVER TO M. LO BY MR. A.H. BOERMA, DUTCH-BORN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE FAO'S WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME. ALSO PRESENT AT THE CEREMONY WAS M. MARCEL CROISIER, REPRESENTATIVE OF THE U.N. SPECIAL FUND.

    THE DONORS OF THE BEANS AND MILK WERE CANADA, CHILE AND HOLLAND. M. LO, IN A SPEECH AT THE CEREMONY, EXPRESSED HIS PLEASURE AT THE GIFT AND ASKED MR. BOERMA TO CONVEY SENEGAL'S GRATITUDE TO THE DONOR NATIONS.
