  • Description

In Venezuela, the World Boxing Council's Junior-Flyweight champion, Netrnoi Vorasing of Thailand, retained his crown when he beat his Venezuelan challenger, Luis "Lumumba" Estaba, on Saturday night (29 July). Estaba, who is over 40 years old, abandoned the fight in the fifth round.

SYNOPSIS: Netrnoi Vorasing, in the red shorts, became World Champion in May last year, but this was hit first title defence. Estaba, who is taller and has greater reach, evaded most of his punches in the first three rounds. But in the fourth round, Vorasing's blow found their mark.

An accurate right blow put Estaba down early in the fourth round. The Venezuelan recovered on a count of five, but the round's end found him almost out of the ring.

In the fifth round, the 20 year-old Vorasing immediately started the attack. After a minute, Estaba seemed about to drop when his manager finally threw in the towel.

The match was Vorasing's 22nd victory against only two losses.
