Background: A powerful pipe bomb stuffed with gunpowder and ball bearings exploded outside the South African Tourist Corporation office in New York yesterday (19 April). The explosion broke three large glass doors and peppered rooms with ball bearings. One girl was slightly injured by flying glass. The blast occurred only a week after a similar bomb exploded in the reception area of the South African Consul-General's office nearby. No one was injured in that explosion, as the staff were on Ester holiday.
After both bombings, a news agency received a telephone call form a man saying the "Black Revolutionary Assault Team" was responsible.
