Background: Egyptian Minister of State Mouhammad Fayek flew into Amman for meetings with Jordanian leaders yesterday (Wednesday). He is one of six envoys from President Nasser currently touring Arab nations to rally support against Israel and sound out opinions on the current Middle East situation.
The Egyptian envoy was met at Amman airport by Jordanian Deputy Premier and Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Abdel Moun'em Rifai. The two men immediately started talks.
President Nasser announced his intention of sending envoys throughout the Arab world during a May Day speech. A primary intention of the missions is to canvass Arab support and solidarity at a time when there are major fears of further United States aid for Israel.
