    The opening phase of the Middle East peace talks ended in Geneva on Saturday (22 December) at a brief, private meeting of five foreign ministers, who agreed to set up a working group to discuss disengagement of troops along the Suez Canal.
    The working group, which will take up its job after Christmas, will consist of Egyptian and Israeli negotiators and United Nations supporting staff. Other working groups may also be established.
    Israli end Egyptian forces have been facing each other on both sides of the Suez Canal since the October 25 ceasefire. The Egyptian Third Army is cut off on the east bank of the Canal.
    A United Nations spokesman outlined the role of the working group to newsmen.
