SYNOPSIS: In Bucharest, Rumania on November tenth, Rumania's President Nicolae Ceausescu had talks with the visiting Italian vice-President, Francesco de Martino. The talks were reported to be friendly and productive, the two statesmen having emphasised how well relations between the two countries were developing. New avenues for cooperation were explored in the conversations. Rumania, which often takes an independent line among Eastern European countries, also seeks regular contacts with the countries of western Europe. The Italian Vice-President had a chance on this occasion to discuss these issues with the Chairman of the Rumanian Council of Ministers, Mr. Ion Georghe Maurer, and others.
Reports of the talks said both sides were ready to contribute to the permanent establishment of peaceful co-existence among European states of east and west.
Mr. Martino also met the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Ilie Verdet.
