    SPEECH TRANSCRIPT

NAWAZ: (SEQ. 3) "Mr. President, the last resolution avoid polemics. It takes into account the legitimate interests of all the parties concerned and provides the comprehensive basis for the peaceful political settlement. The gravity of the situation inside Afghanistan has ramifications far beyond its confines. The Afghanistan crisis poses a serious threat to the stability and security of the states of the region. It has far reaching consequences for world peace and has already had an adverse impact on the process of detente."

    SPEECH TRANSCRIPT

ZARIF: (SEQ. 5) "Confronted with this ever increasing enemies supplying aggression from outside, backed by imperialist and homogenized quarters, the Afghanistan... the Afghan people and the government of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan had no other alternative by to appeal to their traditional friend, the Soviet Union, for assistance in repulsing ....... intervention and aggression. As long as we have no guarantees that the gross provocation will not be repeated, that the interference in our internal affairs will stop (indistinct), the Soviet help will continue."
