COCHRAN: "Although Mr. Ford is in good spirits here, he's worried that the Olympic Games in nearby Montreal may be postponed because of political controversy. Despite protest from Olympic officials, Canada's Prime Minister Trudeau refuses to allow the team from taiwan to appear under the banner of the Republic of China. U.S. officials hope Trudeau will back down. To make it easier for Trudeau to compromise, President Ford is not putting any public pressure on him."

TENG: "We apply for recognition and also we were recognised by the International Olympic committee under the name of Republic of China Olympic Committee."

REPORTER: "You will not accept another name.."

TENG: "We have the right to participate in games. We have also the obligation that we can participate only under other name designated by International Olympic Committee and nothing else."

SHORTCLIFFE: "Some interesting ideas have been raised in the course of the day today. We have made some positive noises about these ideas. They are under consideration in the executive committee now. We have not changed our ideas."
