    Seventeen teams took part in the Polish international four-horse carriage driving championship in Ksiaz, south-west Poland on October 12 to 14.The State stallion stud farm was the venue for the championship, which attracted world-class teams from Austria, Czechoslovakia, Holland, West Germany and Poland.Teams from England and Denmark withdrew from the competition at the last minute.The contest included presentation of the horses and carriages, covering a 25-kilometres course, and finishing a 20-obstacle course in 195 seconds.At the end of the weekend the winner was the former world champion, Dutchman Tjerd Velstra who scored 112 penal points.Coming a close second was Zygmunt Waliszewski of Poland who also scored 112 penal points, but was slower to complete the course.
