    A PASSING-OUT PARADE TODAY (TUESDAY) MARKED THE COMPLETION OF THE 43RD OVERSEAS POLICE OFFICERS' GENERAL COURSE AT THE METROPOLITAN POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL, HENDON, LONDON.

    SIR JOHN WALDRON, COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, INSPECTED THE COURSE PARTICIPANTS AND ADDRESSED THE PARADE.

    HE PRESENTED THE BATON OF HONOUR TO INSPECTOR HARRY AITKEN, OF HONG KONG, WHO GAINED THE HIGHEST EXAMINATION MARKS. INSPECTOR CYRIL LABOUR, OF MAURITIUS, WAS ONE OF TWO WINNERS OF CERTIFICATES FOR GAINING OVER EIGHTY PER CENT OF THE POSSIBLE MARKS.

    THE COURSE WAS ATTENDED BY 22 POLICE OFFICERS FROM 12 COUNTRIES, BRINGING THE TOTAL OF OVERSEAS OFFICERS TO HAVE ATTENDED THE COURSES TO OVER 1,400.

    THE COURSES LAST FOR 20 WEEKS AND ARE INTENDED FOR EXPERIENCED POLICE OFFICERS WHO HAVE SHOWN PROMOTION POTENTIAL. EVERY ASPECT OF CRIME PREVENTION IS COVERED AND THE EMPHASIS IS ON ADVANCED TRAINING IN LAW AND POLICE DUTIES.
