  • Description

In 1945, all that remained of the town of Nysa, Poland, were the ruins of houses and churches left by intensive bombing and destruction.

This is the scene in 1958 after years of intensive rebuilding and construction, with the old town reborn again.

While excavating the foundations of some of these buildings many archeoligical discoveries were made. Here, for example, are pots dating back to the 13th century. Archaeologists are now excavating carefully in the hope that many other 'finds' will be made, in as good a state of preservation.

All these finds will be exhibited in the Museum at Nysa.
