    Tunisian President Habib Bourguiba arrived in Algiers on Monday (22 May) for a week-long visit. This was his first visit to Algeria. He was met at the airport by Algerian President Houari Boumedienne, Foreign Minister Abdel Aziz Bouteflika, and head of Algeria's National Liberation Front (FLM) Party,M. Kaid Ahmed.

    The two presidents will be discussing future joint projects to consolidate the union of Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia known as the North African Maghreb grouping.

    This trip is not only President Bourguiba's first trip to Algeria, but also his first trip abroad since his serious illness three years ago. The two heads of state first met only month ago when president Boumedienne visited tunisia.
