    NATIONAL DELEGATIONS FROM THE IVORY COAST, GUINEA, MALI, MAURETANIA AND GAMBIA CAME TO DAKAR FOR THE FUNERAL AND MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE HAVE STREAMED IN FROM ALL OVER AFRICA.

    IN AN ORATION BEFORE THE START OF FUNERAL CEREMONIES IN DAKAR, PRESIDENT LEOPOLD SENGHOR SAID M. GUEYE HAD FOR THE PAST 50 YEARS BEEN THE CENTRAL POINT OF "THE BATTLE FOR THE EMANCIPATION OF PEOPLE NOT ONLY IN FRENCH-SPEAKING AFRICA BUT OF THE WHOLE FRENCH EMPIRE."
    M. GUEYE'S WIDOW ACCOMPANIED PRESIDENT SENGHOR IN THE FUNERAL PROCESSION, AFTER A BRIEF RELIGIOUS CEREMONY IN THE DAKAR MOSQUE THE CORTEGE CARRIED THE COFFIN TO THE MUSLIM CEMETERY ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CITY.
