    President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto of Pakistan arrived in Ankara on Monday (24 January) for talks with Turkish Government leaders on bilateral relations and developments in the Asian subcontinent. President Cevdet Sunay greeted the Pakistani leader, whose 'plane was diverted to the Murted military air base, 40 miles (60 Kms) for the Turkish capital, due to the closure of the civilian airport.

    During his one-day visit, President Bhutto called for a withdrawal of Indian troops from Bangladesh to enable a new dialogue to begin between Pakistan and the East Bengali leadership. President Bhutto and Sunay also called for restraint by foreign powers to avoid new complications between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

    SYNOPSIS: Turkey's Murted Air Base, 40 miles from Ankara, was ready on Monday to welcome Pakistan's President Bhutto. He was making a one-day visit to the Turkish capital to meet with Government leaders. President Sunay was there to greet him.

    The Pakistani leader was to hold talks on bilateral relations and developments in the Asian subcontinent. Other government dignitaries were also on hand at the airport. Among those greeting the President and his wife were Turkish military leaders.

    President Bhutto later called for Indian withdrawal from Bangladesh to allow a dialogue to begin with that East Bengali leadership.
