Background: Tunisia's new ambassador to Qatar, Mr Al-Habib Nuwairah, presented his credentials to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Hamed al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, at a ceremony in Daha on Tuesday (20 June) at the Government House.

Before the ceremony, the ambassador reviewed a guard of honour made up of members of the Emiri Guards.

The ambassador met Qatar's Foreign Minister and Chief of Protocol during the ceremony. After the formalities had been completed, the Emir and Mr Nuwairah sat down for a brief round of talks.

Mr Nuwairah is the first ambassador from Tunisia in Doha. And he also represents his country in Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

SYNOPSIS: A guard of honour made up of members of the Emiri Guards steed by at the Government House in Doha on Tuesday as Tunisia's first ambassador to Qatar prepared to officially present his credentials. The ambassador, Mr Al-Habib Nuwairah, also represents his country in Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. And now he was preparing complete the first formalities of his duties in Doha by meeting the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Hamad el-Thani.

Shoikh Khalifa spoke briefly, welcoming the ambassador to his new past.

And then Mr Nuwairah and the Emir sat down for a brief round of talks. Among the topics they discussed was the future relations between Qatar and Tunisia.
