  • Description

Ministers of member countries of the Organisation Commune Africaine Mauricienne - OCAM - met in the capital of Upper Volta, Ouagadougou, this week to consider setting up two cinema organisations.

SYNOPSIS: Held in the National Assembly building, the two-day conference was attended by delegates from seven African countries as well as observers from the Agency for Technical and Cultural Co-operation. The first session was opened by Upper Volta's Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Monsieur Emile Bassono.

The possibility of starting two cinema organisations for member countries was the main topic discussed by the ministers and their technical advisers. The project had already been approved by the OCAM heads-of-state at their conference in Banqui in 1974. The conference decided that two Upper Volta officials should be appointed for a period of a year to organise the start of the two operations.

OCAM was founded in 1965 to accelerate political, economic, social, technical and cultural development between members.
