SYNOPSIS: After a scoreless first half, Tottenham Hotspur, wearing white shirts and playing from right to left, attempted an attack against League Cup winners Chelsea in London on Saturday. The effort didn't work. After only two minutes of the second half had passed, the North London team was shaken by a Chelsea assault upon their goal. Chelsea forced a corner and scored the first goal of the match through Keith Weller. It was Weller's first appearance in the Spur's home ground since he left the team four years ago. The League winners managed to hold their lead despite Spur's efforts.
But then the North London team took over. After 68 minutes of play, Martin Peters scored the equaliser.
Four minutes later, Martin Chivers took the opportunity when Chelsea's guard was down and blasted home the winning goal. There were more than 49,000 people watching as the League Cup winners went down under Spurs' efforts.
