    ONLY FIVE THOUSAND PEOPLE SAW THE MATCH SANGSTER WAS TO GO TO TAKE FIRST SET, EIGHT-SIX.IN THE SECOND SET RALSTON WON SIX-THREE.THE FINAL TWO SETS WERE A HARD FIGHT WITH RALSTON HAVING THE EDGE ON HIS BRITISH OPPONENT.

    THE AMERICAN TOOK THE THIRD SET, SIX-FOUR.THIS WAS MATCH POINT IN THE FOURTH SET.

    IT WAS THE FIRST AMERICAN VICTORY IN TWELVE YEARS THE FIRST TIME AN AUSTRALIAN HAD NOT REACHED THE FINAL.
