Visnews filmed Feb 27 the return of the Queen Mother at London Airport from her three week's tour of Uganda and Kenya. She was welcomed by the Queen and Princess Margaret.
She left Entebbe, Uganda, in dull overcast weather. Twelve hours later she landed in London in warm spring-like weather. Her Comet Four was several minutes ahead of schedule.
The Queen and Princess Margaret were black - for the Royal family is in mourning for Princess Arthur of Connaught who died Feb 26. As they went forward to greet the Queen Mother, their clothes contrasted - she was in an unbelted silk coast in French gray, with a matching dress and feathered hat: the clothes she had taken for the East African sunshine.
The silver blue Comet jet airliner of BOAC touched down in twilight. The Queen Mother thanked the Comet Commander for the trip, said it was smooth, pleasant and without vibration.
