    Members of the Command Council of the Northern Army met Chad Government officials on Friday (4 August) to discuss the military situation in the north of the country where Moslem FROLINAT guerrillas are continuing to hold out against Government forces. The Sudanese Charge d'Affaires was also present at the meeting.

    SYNOPSIS: The meeting took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in N'djamena. Apart from the Chadian officials it also involved a representative of the Sudanese Government. Sudan is one of the co-signatories of a truce agreement negotiated between the Chad Government and the FROLINAT guerrillas.

    The leader of the Government delegation was the Vice President of the Supreme Military Council Colonel Djime, second in command to President Felix Malloum. After 13 years of fighting the military situation in the north has now left guerrilla forces holding a de facto ceasefire line only 160 kilometres (100 miles) north of the capital.
