Background: The Italian police moved back into the Sbarre working class district of Reggio Calabria yesterday to find that new barricades had been erected during the night. They'd pulled out the previous evening after removing old barricades of burnt out cars and felled trees.
The police had pulled out of the Sbarre district on Tuesday this after breaking up the old barricades. We serviced film of this on 23 February, Production No. 2121/71. Sbarre's defiance of the authorities is part of Reggio's protest against the choice of rival Catanzaro as the regional capital.
