    Colonel Ignatus Acheampong, the Head of State of Ghana, paid a five-hour official visit to neighbouring Togo on Friday(April 14), where he was received with military honours by President Etienne Eyadema.

    Colonel Acheampong was on the first trip outside Ghana since he took power following the military coup which ousted Premier Kofi Busia two months ago. He said that it was the first of many such trips he would be making to neighbouring states to discuss mutual relations and develop political and economic links.

    SYNOPSIS: Colonel Ignatus Acheampong, the Ghanaian Head of State, arrived in Lome on Friday, where he was received with full honours by the President of Togo, General Etienne Eyadama. It was Colonel Acheampong's first trip outside Ghana since he came to power two months ago following the military coup which ousted Premier Kofi Busia. During a five-hour stay, Colonel Acheampong and President Eyadema discussed future relations between Togo and Ghana. He said that he would later be visiting all of Togo's neighbouring countries on similar missions.
