    President Omar Bongo of the Republic of Gabon arrived in Brazaville, capital of the Congo, on Sunday (3 November) for talks with the Congolese President, Marien Ngouabi.

    The two main subjects for discussion were expected to be bilateral relations and central African affairs. Officials would not disclose how lone President Bongo's visit would last. However, on Tuesday (5 November) President Bongo arrived in Rabat, Morocco, for a three-day official visit as the guest of King Hassan the Second.

    On his visit to the Congo, the President was accompanied by his wife. Among the members of his official delegation was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Okoumba Paul.

    As they stepped off the plane, the Gabonese President and his wife, were greeted by President Ngouabi and his wife. The two heads of state then left for the city, to begin their first session of talks. While they met informally, officials of the two governments began to work on a schedule of work to be covered during the meeting.

    A communique issued after the talks said that the two leaders had also discussed the situation in African states still under Portuguese rule.
