    MR BHUTTO, LEADER OF THE PAKISTAN DELEGATION, TOLD REPORTERS THAT PRELIMINARY DISCUSSIONS IN RAWALPINDI LAST MONTH "JUSTIFY RESUMPTION OF OUR NEGOTIATIONS".HE ADDED: "I HOPE THAT OUR EFFORTS DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS WILL PRODUCE SUBSTANTIAL RESULTS."
    THE PAKISTAN EXTERNAL AFFAIRS MINISTER, MR MOHAMMED ALI, SAID IN LAHORE THAT DAY HE WAS "CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC" ABOUT THE TALKS, AIMED AT PROVIDING A "MEETING GROUND ON PRINCIPLES" FOR DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN PRESIDENT AYUB KHAN AND MR NEHRU.
