Background: The Chairman of the Presidential Council of Dahemey, Mr. Justin Ahomadegbe, discussed the extension of co-operation in a number of fields with the Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, during a one-day visit to Lagos.

The Dahemey Head of State was greeted at Lagos Airport on Friday (1 September) by General Gowon, Government officials and diplomats.

Heavy rain marred the formalities at the airport, but the visiting leader was given a warm welcome by members of the Dahemey community in Lagos.

Later, the two leaders spent some time in talks which are reported to have explored the need for an agreement between the two countries on co-operation in judicial and legal matters, power supply, mercantile shipping and marine fishing.

A meeting has been arranged between ministerial official of the two countries in Cotonou, capital of Dahomey, later in the year.
