    THE ROYAL AIR FORCE BASE, EAST OF SINGAPORE, MALAYSIA, WAS THE SCENE OF A PARACHUTE JUMPING CONTEST BY THREE AIR FORCE PERSONNEL. THEY ARE SERGEANTS J. McLOUGHLIN AND SNOWY ROBERTSON, WHO ARE INSTRUCTORS AT THE FAR EAST PARACHUTE AND SURVIVAL SCHOOL. THE THIRD, UNIDENTIFIED, JUMPED FOR FUN.

    THE THREE MEN JUMPED FROM A HEIGHT OF NINE THOUSAND FEET; AND LANDED SAFELY NEAR PARKED FIGHTER AND TRANSPORT PLANES UNDERGOING REPAIRS - ONE MILE FROM THE EXPECTED LANDING SPOT. THIS WAS CAUSED BY A STRONG WIND. AND ARGOSY TRANSPORT PLANE WAS USED IN THE JUMP.

    FOR SERGEANT McLOUGHLIN, IT WAS HIS ONE-THOUSANDTH JUMP AND HIS COLLEAGUE, SERGEANT ROBERTSON, HIS FIVE-HUNDREDTH JUMP.

    THE TWO CONTESTANTS WERE LOUDLY APPLAUDED BY THEIR COLLEAGUES. GROUP CAPTAIN B.C. BENNET PRESENTED THEM WITH SHIELDS.
