    ANOTHER TELEVISION MILESTONE IS EXPECTED TO BE CHALKED UP THIS WEEK. ON THURSDAY, A SATELLITE WILL RELAY THE FIRST "LIVE" TELEVISION TRANSMISSION FROM JAPAN TO EUROPE.

    THE TRANSMISSION, FROM TOKYO, WILL BE BEAMED TO THE FRENCH COMMUNICATIONS STATION AT PLEUMEUR-BODOU, NEAR LANNION. LIBRARY FILM SHOWS SHOTS OF THE STATION IN JULY, 1962, WHEN IT RECEIVED THE FIRST "LIVE" TRANSMISSION FROM THE U.S. TO EUROPE OVER TELSTAR I.

    TELSTAR II WILL BE USED IN THURSDAY'S BROADCAST. THE 20-MINUTE PROGRAMME WILL BE FED INTO THE FRENCH TELEVISION NETWORK, WHILE EUROVISION WILL CARRY IT TO OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES.

    THE PROGRAMME IS A PRELUDE TO THIS YEAR'S OLYMPIC GAMES IN TOKYO WHEN "LIVE" WORLD-WIDE TELEVISION TRANSMISSION ARE SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE.
