    MORE THAN 200 SHIPS WERE IMMOBILISED TONIGHT (WEDNESDAY) IN ANTWERP AND THE RIVER SCHELDT ESTUARY, THE PORT'S OUTLET TO THE SEA. BELGIUM'S OIL AND PETROL SUPPLIES ARE SERIOUSLY THREATENED BY THE STOPPAGE, CAUSED BY A DISPUTE ABOUT OVERTIME PAY DEMANDS.

    IT'S THE SIXTH DAY OF THE STRIKE BY SOME 900 MUNICIPAL PORT WORKERS. IN THE PAST FEW DAYS DOZENS OF SHIPS HAVE BEEN DIVERTED TO ROTTERDAM AND AMSTERDAM.
