THE TROOPS CARRIERS WILL BE USED TO CROSS THE LUFIRA RIVER, WHERE KATANGESE TROOPS BLEW UP THE BRIDGE EARLIER, IN AN ATTEMPT TO HALT THE U.N.ADVANCE.

A TEMPORARY PREFABRICATED BRIDGE HAS BEEN PARTLY COMPLETED AND A TEMPORARY FOUR PONTOON HAS BEEN PUT ACROSS THE RIVER TO TAKE TROOPS AND LIGHT SUPPLIES.A FEW KATANGAN REFUGEES - IN SOME CASES CARRYING ALL THEIR REMAINING POSSESSIONS - ARE ALSO BEING ALLOWED TO CROSS BY THE PONTOON.

MILITARY PREPARATIONS WERE STILL GOING ON DESPITE PRESIDENT TSHOMBE'S REPORTED STATEMENT TODAY ENDING KATANGA'S SECESSION AND ALLOWING THE UNITED NATIONS COMPLETE FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT.
