  • Description

A new capability has been added to the operational profile of the versatile C-130 "Hercules" aircraft.

The two 3,000-gallon fuel cells shown in this film will enable the C-130 to deliver various types of fuel for aircraft and ground vehicles. Slow-flying fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters can be refuelled by air-to-air operations, and fuel for ground vehicles can be supplied by low-level extraction to front line positions in the field.

During this phase of the test program at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, Air Force personnel are evaluating the reaction of the fuel cells in flight, and determining the time and manpower required to load and unload the cells.
