    BOMBINGS AND BURNINGS CONTINUE IN BRITISH GUIANA AND A TRAGIC RESULT WAS THE WIPING OUT OF THE FAMILY OF ARTHUR ABRAHAM, AN INDIAN, AND HIS SEVEN CHILDREN. THEY WERE BURNED TO DEATH WHEN THEIR HOME WAS BOMBED IN GEORGETOWN.

    ABRAHAM WAS A SENIOR CIVIL SERVANT AND WAS AT ONE TIME PERMANENT SECRETARY TO PREMIER CHEDDI JAGAN.

    THE FUNERAL PUT HEAVY STRAIN ON THE LOCAL UNDERTAKERS. FOUR MOTOR HEARSES WERE PRESSED INTO SERVICE FROM DIFFERENT MORTICIANS. THERE WERE 48 PALL BEARERS AND EIGHT COFFINS, AND A TOMB WAS ERECTED TO ACCOMMODATE THE EIGHT BODIES.

    MOUNTED POLICE ESCORTED THE FUNERAL PROCESSION. GROWN MEN AND WOMEN WEPT OPENLY AS THE HEARSES PASSED.

    THE FUNERAL WAS HELD AT THE CATHEDRAL IN GEORGETOWN.
