    A British driver racing in the Malaysian team won the Macao Grand Prix on Sunday (21 November) after the favourites had been forced out with engine troubles and accidents.

    Jan Bussell, driving a McLaren M-4C at an average speed of 73.66 miles per hour, covered the 45 laps of the 3.8 mile (6-kilometre) Guia circuit in two hours, 19 minutes and 16 seconds to win the race for the second time. A Japanese driver, Riki Ohubo, was placed second just ahead of team-mate Kyoshi Misaki.

    SYNOPSIS: More than 40,000 racing fans were at the Guia circuit on the tiny Portuguese enclave of Macao near Hong Kong on Sunday to watch top Asian drivers competing in the annual Macao Grand Prix.

    Former champions John MacDonald and Tony Maw were forced to withdraw with engine trouble after only a few laps and Australian driver Garrie Cooper built up a substantial lead.

    Eventually , Cooper spun off into another car and Malaysian driver Sonny Rajah took the lead for a short time before his car fell apart. A British driver, Jan Bussell, then took his McLaren M-4C into the lead and crossed the finish line to win for the second time.

    Bussell averaged nearly 74 miles-an-hour for the 45-lap race and crossed the line ahead of Japanese drivers Riki Ohubo and Kyoshi Misaki.
