Background: U.S. President Nixon's trip to the People's Republic of China garnered no space in the Hanoi newspaper, Nhan Dan. Neither was Mr. Nixon's visit to the Soviet Union last week reported in the press. Instead the newspapers used their space to report the progress of the Vietnam war, especially U.S. air raids over North Vietnam.

Hanoi citizens also can be informed on the war by attending the War Exposition. There, posters and pictures provide information on the war, as well as advice on constructing defences and preparing for attacks.

Because of stepped up air attacks over North Vietnam, all cinema houses and theatres have been ordered closed. Public meetings where more than 100 people might assemble have been ordered to be held to a maximum of end hour, in order to avoid U.S. attacks.

Workers including women, carry rifles to and from work, as that they might fire at attacking aircraft. Efforts to construct more shelters have also been stepped up. In this official film from North Vietnam, citizens can be seen building defences and keeping themselves up to date on the progress of the war through newspapers and the War Exposition.

SYNOPSIS: Because of the stepped up U.S. air att??? over North Vietnam, the people of Hane??? have been busy strengthening their defences. The official newspaper, Nha??? Dan, is well protected against attacks The citizens of Hanoi cely on the news paper for much of their information concerning the progress of the war. Street newsstands have been closed since??? the renewed bombing, so that citizens must go to the offices of Nhan Dan in order to purchase their papers.

Since the tenth of May, the War Exposit??? has been open to the public. There people can receive more information on the war, including posters, maps and pictures illustrating the progress mad??? on various front lines. Because of the recent U.S. air attacks in and around Hanoi, the Exposition also provides information on the building of defence shelters and foxholes. Cinemas, teats and many public functions have been ordered cancelled because of the air attacks.

Workers are urged to carry rifles to an from their place of employment as seen this official film so that they will be able to fire on U.S. planes making been runs.

Teams of workers are deployed through Hanoi constructing defences. On the r??? along Hai Ba Rung Central Park, forty young men and women completed three-hundred foxholes within three hours.
