    SOME 120 SOUTH KOREAN STUDENTS RALLIED IN SEOUL THIS WEEK TO PROTEST AGAINST "CORRUPTION" IN HIGH PLACES. THE STUDENTS BELONG TO SEOUL NATIONAL UNIVERSITY AND THEY SQUATTED DOWN WITHOUT FOOD FOR FORTY-EIGHT HOURS TO UNDERLINE THEIR PROTEST.

    THEIR LIST OF PROTEST IS A LONG ONE - AND RANGES FROM POLICE ROUGH HANDLING AND ARREST OF STUDENTS, POLICE SPYING, TO GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION AND MISHANDLING OF THE NATION'S ECONOMIC CRISIS.

    TWO EFFIGIES OF STRAW - REPRESENTING CORRUPTION - WERE SOLEMNLY BURNT BY THE STRIKERS. STUDENTS IN SOUTH KOREA ARE A POTENT FORCE -WHEN UNLEASHED, ADMINISTRATIONS LIKE THAT OF FORMER PRESIDENT SYNGHMAN REE TUMBLE. POLICE RESPOND WITH VIGOUR, BUT AT THIS PROTEST RALLY, THERE WAS NO INTERVENTION, AS THE DEMONSTRATORS STAYED INSIDE THE UNIVERSITY GROUNDS.

    TODAY (WEDNESDAY) THE RANKS OF THE STRIKERS SWELLED TO 500. SUDDENLY 10,000 OTHERS SWEPT THROUGH THE CITY DEMANDING THE END OF PRESIDENT PARK'S ADMINISTRATION. THEY ARE SAID TO HAVE SIEZED POLICE AND MILITARY TRUCKS. RIOT POLICE WITH TEAR GAS SHELLS WERE SWAMPED BY THE TIDE OF STUDENTS.
