Background: Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, President of the Arab Gulf Development Programme of the United Nations and Mr. Amadou-Mahtar M'Bow Director-General of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), exchanged signed agreement on finance and co-operation in the developing nations at a conference in Paris on Tuesday (23 February). Other delegates from the Gulf States also attended the conference, including those from Kuwait and Oman. The agreement is the result of a great-deal of hard work and extensive travelling and lobbying on the part of both men. Mr. M'Bow said the agreement was concrete evidence of both the United Nations and the Gulf Development Programme's wish to contribute to the welfare and finance of the poorer nations of the world.
