  • Description

A cavalcade of veteran cars passed through Dover on Wednesday, 14th. May, on the way to an international veteran car rally that started on May 15th. and lasts till Saturday, 17th.May, as part of the Brussels International Exhibition festivities.

Among these lively fifty and sixty year olds was a glittering, glamourous film star who played the second principal part in the film "Genevieve" ----- a 1905 Spyker.

Speeding along, at about 15m.p.h. was an 1897 Daimler followed by a quaint covered top, open sided Swift of the year 1908. A more youthful contestant heading for the Continent was a 1911 Austin.

An amusing contrast was made by a Rolls Royce Silver Wraith, late 1950's modern, and a 1900 New Orleans that it was towing. The driving clothes of the Rolls Royce driver and those of a driver of a 1902 Peugeot illustrated the advances made in the motor-car industry as far as travelling comfort is concerned. One the one hand a lounge suit, on the other heavy coat, scarves and cap.
