INTRODUCTION: In the United States, President Jimmy Carter has had a 45 minute meeting with a five-member commission on the eve of its departure for Vietnam and Laos. The delegation, headed by United Auto Workers Union President Leonard Woodcock, is expected to arrive in Hanoi on Wednesday (16 March) to seek answer to question about the 2,550 U.S. citizens listed as missing in action or presumed dead during the Vietnam war. The President told the commission, which will also visit Vientiane in Laos, that he hoped their trip would lead to the complete normalisation or relations with Vietnam. He did however, warn against unrealistic expectations on the subject of missing servicemen and civilians. The N.B.C.'s Charles Rose reports.
