Background: Student riots in Nigeria have spread to Lagos following the deaths of two demonstrators at Ibadan on Monday, 1st February.
In Lagos yesterday the demonstrators burned down two police posts and hunted down policemen in the city. Police officers are reported to have torn off their uniforms to escape the rioters.
Eventually the police barricaded a road into the city and arrested at least 15 students.
The original demonstrations at Ibadan University had lasted four days before police opened fire on Monday on 3,000 student demonstrators. They were protesting about the standard of the catering services at the university.
Ibadan University had been closed.
