International horse shows are big news!
Coming almost immediately after the Royal International Horse Show in London, the Dublin Show now attracts many of the world's best riders to the big Irish ring - many of the horseman and horsewomen appearing two or three times in each event.

When our cameraman visited the stadium on the afternoon on Tuesday, August 6, he found many of the world's leading riders competing for the Pembroke Stakes.

Included among the competitors was Colonel Harry Llewellyn and Miss Dawn Palethorpe of Great Britain; Captain Piere D'Inzeo of Italy; Hans-Gunter Winkler of Germany; and Lt. Dely of Ireland.

Among the first to tackle the difficult course was Miss J. Harper, of Great Britain, who was riding Rosalyn. She was followed by Lt. R. Maloney, of Ireland, on Bellycotton, and then the spectators saw the great German rider, Hans Winkler, go round Sambesi.

Another of the British contingent, John Walmsey, tackled the course on Gilpin, and then it was the turn of the veteran British star, Colonel Harry Llewellyn, on St. Teilo.

But the final winner was the Italian rider, Captain Salvatore Oppes, riding Pagare, who just managed to beat his famous countryman, Capt. P. D'Inzeo, on the Rock.

Third in the competition was the Marquess Lorenzo Medici on Sea Leopard.
