Rescue workers with acetylene torches on Tuesday ( 30 September) cut bodies from the twisted wreckage of railway ??? in a crash ??? Rio Lujan, Argentina, the previous night. Thirty-two people were killed in the accident.
The crash happened when a local train hit the rear of the ??? express which had been halted by signals near the small station of Rio ??? 40 miles ( 65 Kilometres) north of Buenos Aires.
A driving car steward on the express going to the river port of ??? 125 miles ( 200 Kilometres) north of Buenos Aires said the train was crowded and many people were standing. As well as the dead, 25 people were injured, some seriously.
Eyewitnesses said the heavy diesel-electric engine of the local train struck the luggage van at the back of the express pushing it into the last passenger carriage, shearing off its roof and decapitating several of its 21 passengers.
Argentina's worst ever rail crash happened on the same line 19 miles ( 30 Kilometres) nearer Buenos Aires five years ago. 236 people died.
