Background: Hanoi citizens have celebrated the shooting down of what's claimed to be the four thousandth American aircraft. It was one of two F-111 jets making a raid over Kim Xuyeng province when it was shot down by local anti-aircraft defence forces on October 17th.

Foreign and domestic reporters were invited to see the wreckage and an official newspaper, Nhan Dan, printed a two-colour special edition to mark the occasion. Slogans and banners were also on display urging citizens to protect and develop their industries as seen in this official film.

North Vietnam defence forces later claimed another 7 planes destroyed in the following three days.
