    The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zaid Bin Sultan arrived in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott on Tuesday (August 13) on another leg of his six nation tour which has already included visits to Iraq and Morocco.

    Sheikh Zaid and a large U.A.E. delegation were greeted at the airport by the Mauritanian head of state President Koktar Ould Daddah, Government Ministers and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

    During the three day visit Sheikh Zaid was able to visit many places of interest in Mauritania as well as having discussions with the Mauritanian leader.

    On Wednesday (August 14) Sheikh Zaid Visited a carpet factory and a water desalination plant. On Thursday the two leaders visited the city of Nouadhibou.

    A special edition of the Mauritanian newspaper "Nouakchott Information" was brought out to mark the visit. It carried information of Sheikh Zaid and the U.A.E. as well as welcoming the visitors.

    A joint communique was due to be issued over the weekend.

    SYNOPSIS: The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zaid Bin Sultan arrived in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott on Tuesday for a three day visit. The Arab leader was welcomed by the Mauritanian head of State, President Moktar Ould Daddah, Government Ministers and representatives of the diplomatic corps. For Sheikh Zaid it was another leg on a tour of six nations.

    As well as having talks with President Ould Daddah on world affairs, Sheikh Zaid visited many places of interest.

    On Wednesday he visited a carpet making factory and a water desalination plant. The following day the two leaders visited the city of Noadhibou.

    A special edition of the Mauritanian newspaper "Nouakchott Information" was published telling about Sheikh Zaid and the United Arab Emirates.

    In the talks, aid for Mauritania was expected to be discussed. A joint communique was due to be issued on Saturday.
