    DELEGATES TO THE WEST AFRICAN MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE IN MONROVIA WERE GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO RELAX FROM THEIR WORK OF PREPARING FOR TOMORROW'S (MONDAY) SUMMIT SPONSORING CLOSER REGIONAL ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION AT A RECEPTION HELD IN THEIR HONOUR BY THE LIBERIAN STATE DEPARTMENT ON FRIDAY (19 APRIL).

    THE MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED ON WEDNESDAY (17 FEBRUARY) BY PRESIDENT WILLIAM TUBMAN.

    GAMBIA, GHANA, GUINEA, LIBERIA, MALI, MAURITANIA, NIGERIA, SENEGAL, SIERRA LEONE AND UPPER VOLTA WERE REPRESENTED AT THE MEETING. MR DIALLO TELLI, SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE ORGANISATION OF AFRICAN UNITY, ALSO ATTENDED.

    THEIR JOB WAS TO PREPARE FOR TOMORROW'S SUMMIT OF THEIR RESPECTIVE HEADS OF STATE CALLED BY THE SENEGAL RIVER BASIN STATES AS A MOVE ESSENTIAL TO THE STIMULATION OF AFRICAN UNITY AND CO-OPERATION.

    SO FAR EIGHT HEADS OF STATE ARE EXPECTED IN MONROVIA FOR THE CONFERENCE. OTHER NATIONS ARE LIKELY TO BE REPRESENTED AT A LOWER LEVEL.
