QOTBZABETH: "The purpose of the trial of the Shah as we have maintained from the beginning, it was (indistinct) as we said from the beginning, that the trial of the Shah will be public with international observers from all over the world to come and see. It wasn't only that we didn't know the crimes of the Shah, we knew perfectly well, sensed it, it was closed to us. The (indistinct) of the cemeteries that we have shows what he has done and the ten thousands of the cripples who exist shows the crimes of the Shah. We knew it. We want that the whole world knows and the whole world comes to an understanding of these crimes committed in Iran and America's Various administrations. Democrats and Republicans were directly responsible for it. So that is one of the reasons I believe the Americans tried not to, I mean concentrate on the release of the hostages, and never talk about a trial of the Shah. I mean these things could have been done by your own committees from the Senate from the Congress or from the White House, investigate and to report to the American public and to the whole world. None of them have been done. And even the question of the hostages, the release of the hostages, we know pertinently we have seen it, it is the problem of internal politics of the United States. The Republican Party, especially Mr. Kissinger, Mr. Rockefeller, Mr. Nixon are striving in every corner to block every effort which goes towards to solution of the problem and the Carter administration unfortunately is weak enough to respond to it and weak enough to create this committee and deal with the problem in its depth. And when these things come to the light and once they are aired and the whole world knows at that time agreed, the international atmosphere and the climate will be healthy and the Iranian people the public opinion realises a sense of justice in the world and if they ask for the release of the hostages they also talk about the suffering of the people. At what time these problems will be resolved rather e
asily and fast."
